I'm an early riser by nature, out the door most days at the crack of dawn, either walking the beach, hopping on a boat or cycling to catch the morning light. Looking Back at 2020

2020 has indeed been a wild ride! This year taught me to be patient and flexible, and to be stronger, more resilient than I ever dreamed. Lockdown forced me to slow down, photography, in so many was my therapy. Living in The Cayman Islands, we experienced strict lockdown for 3 months. We were allowed 1-2 hours a day for exercise. I bought a bike, rode for miles everyday, wandered and breathed in the fresh air. Lucky to live near the ocean, I stopped often to soak in the beauty of nature, camera on my back grabbing photos along the way. I tried to focus on the positive things I saw, the beauty of Cayman and also the world we live in. Colorful sunrises and sunsets, empty and quiet roads. I shared my photos everyday, which, to me, was important as the months went by with so much death, hate and negativity in our social and media streams. I felt the world also needed to be reminded that beauty does exist. I was inspired by the bright Caribbean colors and found peace through creativity. I hope sharing some of my favorite 2020 images has given you inspiration and appreciation for how despite, living with and through some uncertain times, photography can help us through the darkest times.   Wishing you all a Happy New Year and a better 2021. You can't start the next chapter of your life if you keep re reading the last one.

A Lifestyle Shoot with Amber

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Instagram influencer Amber Berry wanted a professional photographer to collaborate with her for a lifestyle shoot at Caribbean Club , a boutique hotel in the heart of Seven Mile Beach.  We also used the time to help show case the colourful tropical cocktails created by the mixologists at Luca, the Italian restaurant situated in Caribbean Club. We started the shoot on the beach under the thatch cabanas, perfect for Instagram feeds! From there we moved to the blue waters of Seven Mile Beach to photograph Amber surrounded by the beautiful Caribbean colours. As you can see from this blog, Amber is a natural in front of the camera which made my job easy and carefree. I heart collabs! Need a a lifestyle photographer? Hurricane Eta and Cayman’s Surfers

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Cayman is always known for it's calm and crystal clear blue waters. But when a hurricane or tropical storm moves by, our shores transform into a surfer's dream. This was the case when Hurricane Eta moved by to the south of Grand Cayman. Our surfers came out at sunrise and surfed to their hearts' delight. Even Seven Mile Beach, which is usually flat calm, turned into a surf spot and surfers of all ages and all experiences came out to enjoy the waves. As a lifestyle photographer, I'm always looking out for unique moments that are different from the norm. So when the surfers call me at 4.30am to come and shoot them enjoying the waves, I gladly throw my gear together to join them. Colour in Motion at Stingray City

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]This Colour in Motion series was inspired when I felt the world needed a little more colour to brighten up the somber days of lock down. Throughout my 20 years a professional photographer I have photographed so many models, as  well as  a lot of moments with brilliant colour. My inspiration came when I saw bright pink fabric at a local seamstress. I bought several yards and decided to pair a model with the  fabric. When she entered the water wrapped in the fabric and I saw it float like a dream, I just knew I had found a unique inspiration that I wanted to explore further. You can see my Colour In Motion Gallery here. Family Time Watersports provided their luxury boat for us and we headed out to Cayman's biggest attraction, Stingray City. Meg Chandler was our beautiful model and her grace and elegance complimented the flowing fabric perfectly. I feel the pink fabric pops so beautifully against our blues seas and skies to create a dreamy vision that brings a feeling of hope and brightness during such a challenging year. Tropical Storm Delta = Happy Surfers

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]From October 5th-12th, 2020, Tropical Storm Delta moved to the south west of Grand Cayman where it turned into a category 2 hurricane. Cayman was lucky to have the force of the storm pass by, but it did bring huge seas to our shores that made for very happy surfers. They grabbed their boards and called me to come and photograph their excitement and exhilaration. As the waves moved with the storm, the surfers traveled from catching waves in south sound to riding waves on the normally calm Seven Mile Beach. I'm always thrilled when I am asked to shoot a wedding that the Ritz, here in Cayman. It's a simply beautiful location with so much variety as backdrop. Stephanie and Calvin opted to say their views on the grand lawn. Overlooking the canal, surrounded by ever green mangroves, the small platform is accented by tall columns and were decorated with billowing drapes.
