A Splash of Colour on a Sunny Day

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]These Colour in Motion photos were a result of my idea to combine colour with Cayman's already bright blue seas and skies. I wanted something that would pop on the beach and in the water. I bought red, pink and yellow fabric initially and from there it grew into the LGBQT sessions which you can also view in my list of blogs. Models @elaturcotte and @drjaxman

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]College friends! They're the absolute best. Especially when they invite you on their road trip out west to capture the sheer magnitude of the Grand Canyon and Antelope Canyon. Deep blue skies, endless roads to nowhere and everywhere. Late sunsets, early sunrises, driving for hours singing out loud to our favourite big hair bands from college days. Thank you Joan and Partner for inviting me. And yes! The art looks great on your walls back home in upstate New York.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_masonry_media_grid element_width="12" gap="3" grid_id="vc_gid:1606325901359-e4e782f3-1692-5" include="4221,4224,4225,4227"][vc_masonry_media_grid element_width="6" gap="3" grid_id="vc_gid:1606325901368-644700f7-b928-2" include="4230,4231,4236,4235,4232,4237"][vc_masonry_media_grid element_width="12" gap="3" grid_id="vc_gid:1606325901388-dad67a55-524b-1" include="4241,4246,4243,4242,4239,4240,4244,4245,4247"][/vc_column][/vc_row] Read More
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]I've always been different. My photography has always been a pure expression of me. I never use filters. If there was a hashtag for my photography, it would be #unfiltered. I live life in full saturation every minute of the day. You can see that when you look at my body of work. During Covid, with very little work coming in, the idea of combining colour with the vibrancy of Cayman materialized (pun intended!) when I bought several yard of bright fabric and used it on a model on Seven Mile Beach. From there it grew into this LGBQT shoot which ended up receiving massive love from around the globe on my social feeds. Photos from this shoot is now also gracing the walls of many homes, both in Cayman and beyond. [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Inspired by Cayman's beauty, by divine sunrises and sunsets, by teal waters and bright blue skies. I have lived in the Cayman Islands for over 20 years, this year, because of Covid, I was not able to take my annual summer travel vacation. Instead, I re-discovered the beauty of Cayman. And I came, yet again, to the realization that we live in the most beautiful place. It's not just the landscapes, it's the people, it's the essence of Cayman. I'm not always able to express it in words, but I do express it through my view finder. There are no other words, I. Love. Cayman. Please follow me on Instagram and Facebook. I post daily and can bring any of the photos you see on my social feed to your walls in the form of canvas, metal or print. Let's bring Cayman to your walls, juliecorsetti@gmail.com[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_masonry_media_grid element_width="12" gap="3" grid_id="vc_gid:1606323649310-413f85b4-8ea1-6" include="4181,4182"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_masonry_media_grid element_width="12" gap="3" grid_id="vc_gid:1606323649315-41c500e0-0ab6-8" include="4185,4184"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_masonry_media_grid element_width="12" gap="3" grid_id="vc_gid:1606323649320-fe5f3e96-1085-4" include="4187,4186"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_masonry_media_grid element_width="12" gap="3" grid_id="vc_gid:1606323649327-77237a36-59d3-10" include="4188,4189"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_masonry_media_grid element_width="12" gap="3" grid_id="vc_gid:1606323649332-602816b3-6cc6-0" include="4190,4191"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_masonry_media_grid element_width="12" gap="3" grid_id="vc_gid:1606323649339-307c3fb1-354d-3" include="4194,4207"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_masonry_media_grid element_width="12" gap="3" grid_id="vc_gid:1606323649345-e488b74e-4769-2" include="4195,4198"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_masonry_media_grid element_width="6" gap="3" grid_id="vc_gid:1606323649352-f45f6e83-bd8b-2" include="4199,4201"][vc_masonry_media_grid element_width="12" gap="0" grid_id="vc_gid:1606323649357-15092867-bdd6-10" include="4202"][vc_masonry_media_grid element_width="12" gap="3" grid_id="vc_gid:1606323649361-de43fbbf-0fa2-0" include="4204,4205"][/vc_column][/vc_row] Read More
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]"Be bold enough to use your voice, brave enough to listen to your heart, and strong enough to listen to your heart, and strong to live the life you imagined" Anonymous I was lying on the floor during a yoga class wondering where my life was going. For the first time in my life I didn't have a plan. It was December 2019 and I was stuck! It was in this time that I began to fantasize about doing an underwater photo shoot. That it would be the ultimate moment of freedom, to move me from feeling stuck! There was only one slight problem...the deep! I would be feel panicked if my feet couldn't touch the ground. But I started practicing. Learning to release the air from my lungs so I could sink to the bottom. Learning to hold my breath. Learning to relax my face and posing underwater while my sister peered from the surface telling me to fix my hands from the frozen frog position! I booked the photo shoot in March with Julie Corsetti (love her work) but COVID happened. When we could finally move around freely, I re-booked only for us to cancel 3 times. Weather, work or the conditions of the sea. Would this moment ever happen? Finally September 28th arrived. It was a gorgeous sunny day and the water was the clearest blue. I was anxious and nervous for a second but I began to relax. I look at these photos now feeling overjoyed. I give thanks to God for this experiencec. These photos are a bold, brave and beautiful moment that was borne in a time of struggle. [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Food! It feeds the body, but divine food prepared just for you, in the comfort of your own home, well that feeds the soul! Deep Blue Images and @freshincayman recently had the delicious joy of photographing Dylan Benoit of Carnivore as he prepared a sumptuous barbeque and served it beach front at sun set. Dylan's guests at Caribbean Club were treated to appetizers and wine while he created dinner. Dylan even chose wines to pair with the amuse-bouche and seated beach dinner. Planning a dinner party? Hand the cooking over to a Chef! That way you have more time to spend with your guests and you don't have to do any of the cleaning up afterwards. It's a win win situation. If you're a Chef or restaurant and would like to have professional and beautiful photography done of your menu items, please contact us here and let's get started![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row gap="3"][vc_column][vc_masonry_media_grid element_width="12" gap="3" grid_id="vc_gid:1601946071148-9523b290-8982-8" include="4081,4083,4093,4085"][vc_masonry_media_grid element_width="6" gap="3" grid_id="vc_gid:1601946071159-d3a48829-4be6-1" include="4091,4090,4094,4092"][vc_masonry_media_grid element_width="6" gap="3" grid_id="vc_gid:1601946071170-111983e3-6713-5" include="4089,4127,4128,4129"][vc_masonry_media_grid element_width="12" gap="3" grid_id="vc_gid:1601946071197-4aab9c4f-aa47-7" include="4130,4131,4132"][/vc_column][/vc_row] Read More
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Hot, sensual, sexy, awe inspiring, goddess....all these adjectives come to mind when we have the pure joy of photographing our Caribbean Queens. Like true royalty, they are beautiful, stylish and regal. We take them to locations where the sets compliment the queen and her divine energy, and they don't disappoint as they start moving in front of the lens. With deep seated love for colour and island vibes, our queens glow with the essence of life in the Caribbean. We bow to them..... Wanna be a queen in front of our lens? As the saying goes “the world is your oyster” now is as good of a time as any for global accessibility. Paired with content creation, millions of opportunities to explore and capture unique sceneries are right at our fingertips. From Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman, to the blue hole in Belize and exotic creatures in the Galapagos. Our world and Mother Nature are tremendously fascinating to a naked eye and camera’s viewfinder.

Now, imagine the ability to bring together two elements and worlds. Both land and water offer compelling sceneries and with the opportunity to capture it all in one image, the results are compelling. For nearly two decades, Julie Corsetti and Deep Blue Images has sought out to perfect the combination of over-under photography.

We have learned a great deal from this craft throughout the years. Not only is this technique a blast to capture but it takes hard work and dedication...but the results are mesmerizing!

The technology and technique behind capturing these images is another world in itself. Both the over and underwater halves need to be interesting, the weather in good conditions and the waterline just right. With so many things to consider, we wanted to share bits of our journey, our secrets and our struggles in perfecting this fun and magical underwater technique.

Invest In An Underwater Housing If you are serious about taking your over-under and underwater photography to the next level there are are few ways to invest in your gear. While GoPro is great for option, a DSLR underwater dome port will enable you to utilize your pro-camera quality safely underwater. We recommend Aquatica products for professional photographers. With several options in dome dimensions and accessories, these housings stand out from the competition..
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image="2847" img_size="1200x800" alignment="center"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
Shallow Water Is Your Friend! Some of the best split shots and dimensions are made in shallow water when your lens is able to see the bottom and the surface of the water. A shallow or physically close foreground subject underwater also add to the effect – so pay attention to your surroundings. One rule to remember is that the image of an object that is far away will be always appear closer to the dome diameter and away from the dome port.
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image="2848" img_size="1200x800" alignment="center"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
Set Yourself Up For Success Use a small aperture to get the background and underwater parts in focus. In a large dome the subject is further away making it easier to focus both underwater and above, however with a small dome you will need a smaller aperture to achieve the same effect. The brightness in the top half of the photo will be greater than the underwater portion. Because virtual dome image is close to the dome, but above water the focus point is very far away, you must either use a small aperture, or use a split diopter.

Conditions Are Everything As if weather conditions don’t already play a role in any photographic adventure, good conditions are vital for over-under photography. It’s important to have overhead sunshine for lighting (preferably behind you), low winds for a smooth surface and clean, clear, calm light colored water. Typically, early morning is ideal.

We’ve seen them before. The portraits of families posed in front of the fireplace or steps to the front door – and let’s not even talk about the classic family portraits in matching outfits on muslin backdrops…Gone are the days of point and shoot and posed portraits. In the human focused world we live in, we appreciate authentic connections and genuine emotions. As photography has evolved, as has the way talented photographers approach capturing candid, genuine moments though portraiture – and for good reason! Alongside capturing emotions, bringing new techniques (and beautiful exotic landscapes) to the mix can add another element of delight to both the subject and atmosphere. Julie Corsetti at Deep Blue Images has spent years developing and discovering the depths of portrait photography techniques. Her experience alongside her dedication and love of her clients, shines through each portrait and the smiles on her clients faces. Take a peek at a recent Over-Under portrait photography session for a lovely family enjoying vacation in beautiful Grand Cayman Island.
