Cayman is always known for it’s calm and crystal clear blue waters. But when a hurricane or tropical storm moves by, our shores transform into a surfer’s dream.
This was the case when Hurricane Eta moved by to the south of Grand Cayman. Our surfers came out at sunrise and surfed to their hearts’ delight. Even Seven Mile Beach, which is usually flat calm, turned into a surf spot and surfers of all ages and all experiences came out to enjoy the waves.
As a lifestyle photographer, I’m always looking out for unique moments that are different from the norm. So when the surfers call me at 4.30am to come and shoot them enjoying the waves, I gladly throw my gear together to join them.
It’s magical mornings like these that make my career as a photographer a dream.
